Akita Pit Bull Mix (Pitkita)

Oreo #akitapit

These are intelligent, loyal and protective dogs. These traits, unsurprisingly, come from their parent breeds. They are also called Akita Pit Bulls or Pit Akitas.

They are a designer breed but they can be found in shelters and rescues, unfortunately. Even though they are supposed to be in large houses with big families, they are good at adapting to smaller homes and active urban spaces too.

Appearance

These guys mostly come in cream, brown, black, blue and brindle. Their coat is solid but you might also find a mix of colors.

Their coat is easy to maintain but they shed lightly throughout the year. However, a weekly brushing will do the trick.

These dogs are not great at avoiding allergies.

Temperament

This is a high-energy dog. So you will need to clear out at least 30 to 60 minutes for a walk every day. You’re going to have to organize play sessions during that time too.

They are eager to please and obedient dogs which makes them easy to train. This breed is good with other animals when introduced slowly and calmly.

Early socialization is encouraged. Pitkitas are at risk for progressive retinal atrophy, heart diseases and hip dysplasia and this risk of disease only increases with age.

American Bulldog Pit Bull Mix (American Pitbull)

Peek-A-Boo

It is also known as Bullypit and is a medium-sized dog that lives for about 10 to 13 years.

Appearance

It is about 20 to 25 inches tall and weighs between 70 to 120 pounds. It is a stocky and heavy dog with a muscular and compact body.

It has a long muzzle with pointed ears and a large mouth. These dogs also have a smooth coat with fine hair. They come in black, brown, white, tan, cream and red colors.

Their appearance depends on the specific parents used for breeding. From red noses to wide chests to boxier heads, everything is on the table.

Temperament

This is a great surprise element with these dogs. However they look, these are sweet and loyal dogs. They have a bad reputation because of their looks and their parent breeds.

Early socialization and gentle training are recommended to keep them obedient and well behaved. It’s not difficult.

Australian Cattle Dog Pit Bull Mix (Aussie Cattle Pitbull)

Autumn Walk

This is also called the Blue Heeler Pitbull Mix and it is an energetic dog. They live for 12 to 14 years.

Appearance

These dogs get to about 17 to 24 inches in height and weigh about 30 to 60 pounds. They are easy to groom but these dogs have a thick double coat.

Aussie Cattle Pit bulls shed quite a bit and hence need regular grooming. This can also be passed on to the offspring.

So, you must find some time for vacuuming with a FURminator.

Temperament

They are sweet and loyal in nature.

Aussie Cattle Pit Bulls are family-friendly dogs and are quite prone to separation anxiety. So, if both parents work long hours with no one at home during a day, this dog is not for you.

They want company and need a strong training schedule from an early age. The pit bull is smart and the Australian Cattle Dog is eager to please. So, early socialization is strongly recommended.

Pitbull and a pit/basset hound mix

This is the result of mixing two very different dogs. They live for 12 to 16 years.

The pit bull is muscular, strong dog, agile and has a bouncy gait.

They have large heads and wide muzzles with strong jaws. Their coat is stiff but glossy and has a variety of colors and patterns.

Basset Hounds have short but powerful legs with massive paws and are strong dogs. They also have large heads.

These dogs have long ears with a velvety touch. Their coat is at least two colors with the classics coming in black, white and tan.

Temperament

Pit bulls have a bad reputation and were even banned in England and Wales in 1991 because of the number of attacks. They are also known to be aggressive only towards other dogs which, to be fair, is a thing with a lot of dogs.

Pit bull owners usually get them because they want an angry guard dog or attack dog. So, some of them encourage that kind of behavior.

But Basset Hound Pit bull mixes are usually good-natured and loving dogs. Early socialization is preferred so that they do not become aggressive.

Beagle Pit Bull Mix (Beagle Pit)

Our New Puppy, Zoe

Also called the Beaglebull, this is another uncommon mix. These are intriguing dogs that can be found in shelters.

They are friendly but indifferent towards strangers making them bad guard dogs. But they do like to bark at everything. That’s just because they are bored.

Bloodhound Pit Bull Mix

The Bloodhound Pit Bull Mix is a modern-day designer dog that has been in demand only very recently. They live for 12 to 16 years.

Appearance

They inherit qualities from both parents making every puppy different from the other. This applies to their physical appearance as well. But we know from looking at the parents that they have a smooth coat and short hair.

They are easy to groom. So you only need to take the brush to the coat a couple of times a week.

Temperament

This aspect is also different from pup to pup. But here’s what we can tell you.

The Bloodhound Pit Bull Mix is very friendly, very kind and courageous. It can be aggressive but is also an obedient and intelligent dog.

They follow commands well. So, it is fun to train them. But they don’t like to be ignored or left alone.

Blue Heeler Pit Bull Mix (Blue Pitbull)

Roscoe

This one is a mix between the American Pit Bull Terrier and Australian Cattle Dog. The latter is also called the Blue Heeler.

The idea was to breed a dog that would work in the rough and tumble outback. These dogs live for 12 to 14 years.

Appearance

Since both parents are medium-sized dogs, the Blue Heeler Pitbull is about 17 to 21 inches tall and weighs anywhere from 30 and 60 pounds.

They are longer than they are tall. These dogs have a strong back and a muscular chest. Some of them have short loins like the Pit bull.

Temperament

This depends on the environment and socialization but they are loyal and intelligent dogs. Some are friendly with people like the pit bull (that’s right. They are friendly dogs) and others are suspicious of strangers like the Blue Heeler. So you might be in for a surprise.

Border Collie Pit Bull Mix (Pit Collie)

Coffee, our border-collie pit mix

They are also called Border Bulls or Border Pits and are medium-sized dogs. These dogs live for over 12 years.

Appearance

They are good-looking dogs with coats in different colors like brindle, merle, white, black or anything in between.

Temperament

These dogs are very social and like to be with their owners as much as possible. Both their parents have separation anxiety so that explains that.

They also like to snuggle making them great couch buddies. They are energetic and require mental stimulation. They are always up for a game of fetch and you don’t need a large yard to play with them.

Boston Terrier Pit Bull Mix (Boston Pit)

This one is actually another rare mix of breeds probably because of the health issues with Boston Terriers. They are not very popular or in demand. They seem to live for nine to 12 years.

Appearance

These dogs do not resemble either of the parents which may seem odd. But that is because of how different both dogs are.

Some dogs resemble it bulls but almost never have the facial structure or size of the Boston Terrier. They grow up to 17 to 20 inches in height and weigh about 30 to 60 pounds.

Temperament

It’s hard to read these guys but they are said to be cheerful, energetic and social dogs. But both parents are very obedient dogs. They are also highly intelligent and relatively easy to train.

Pit bulls can be stubborn and Boston Terriers are independent. So watch out for that. The mixed-breed offspring usually requires mental stimulation and training.

Boxer Pit Bull Mix (Bull Boxer)

Tiger

This is a cross between the Boxer and American Pit Bull Terrier. These are powerful, faithful and energetic dogs with some of the best characteristics from both parents.

They are also called the Pixoter or the American Bullboxer and can be found in shelters.

Appearance

Here’s a fun fact. These guys have coats in every color imaginable. Typically, we see black, brown, tan and yellow. But this breed also has extra black or white markings on another color.

They have short hair and a single-layer coat and it is quite easy to manage. They do shed all year. So, brush their fur a couple of times a week.

If they have wrinkles on their face, wipe their face once a week. These dogs are not comfortable in extreme temperatures. So, don’t put them through that.

Temperament

They are guard dogs or farm dogs because they are loyal and powerful. They are protective of the children in the house and respond well to responsible owners.

Early socialization is advised and must be a part of their life throughout. These are active dogs and need upbeat walks and even jogs, sometimes. That’s for at least two hours every day.

Cane Corso Pit Bull Mix (Corso Bull)

Cody - 5 years old - American pitbull terrier/Cane corso mix

This is a mix between the rare Cane Corso breed and the notorious pit bull. These are exceptionally strong dogs with a lot of loyalty. They live for about 11 years.

Appearance

These dogs, like their parent breeds, have short hair and very large bodies that are very strong too. Some of them are extremely muscular but that is not always the case.

Adult Corso Bulls weigh 70 to 115 pounds and grow from 22 to 28 inches tall. The color depends on the ancestry. They have shades of brown and gray fur.

Temperament

These dogs are quick to defend their owners and also eager to please them. They have some history of attacking other animals and people.

But this aggression can be redirected to hunting and fighting. Early socialization with regular training is a good idea for this breed.

And use only positive reinforcement to wean them off their aggression. These are fun-loving dogs but not suitable to households with children.

These are great family dogs and love to be the center of attention. They love to cuddle and stay in your lap.

Chow Chow Pit Bull Mix (Pit Chow)

chow pit X - porcupine quills

The Chow Chow Pitbull mix is also called the Chowpits or Pitchows, these are rather unique dogs that live for 10 to 15 years. They are great companion dogs with a varying appearance.

Appearance

These puppies look like the pit bull parent but also have a blue-spotted tongue from the Chow Chow. They are cute with thick and erect ears.

But if they are like their Chow Chow parent, the ears will be thin and floppy. It is also possible for them to have one ear from each parent.

Their muzzle is like the pit bull but a bit shorter. Their jaw is wide and the tongue is purple.

Temperament

Their personality changes depending on the company. They are kind and obedient dogs but are generally uncomfortable around strangers.

They are playful dogs with a sense of independence. The Pit Chows are bright and can learn a lot of tricks.

Temperament

Porgis are generally affectionate and playful dogs. They like to be everyone’s best friend when trained and socialized at an early age.

They like to be around families and be silly too. Hybrids like this one can be very protective of the family making them good guard dogs.

They have long ears and a muscular body that is shaped like a sausage. A lot of them have a short and coarse coat that is in brindle, brown or black color.

Temperament

They need to be trained and socialized early and you must take it seriously. This is a key part of building their exercise and stimulation routine.

These are feisty dogs which are very devoted and like to have some fun. They are also stubborn and intelligent.

These dogs are not threatening but if you provoke them, you are inviting real danger.

Dalmatian Pit Bull Mix (Pitmatian)

This is a designer breed dog that is the first-generation offspring of a Dalmatian and a pit bull. This breed does not have a long history.

Appearance

The physical traits of these dogs depend on which parent they take after. So, you have to consider the size of both parents to know what the offspring will look like.

Dalmatians grow 19 to 24 inches tall and weigh about 45 to 70 pounds. Pitbulls grow 17 to 19 inches tall and weigh about 40 and 70 pounds.

The offspring will have short and smooth hair. The color of the coat is a fun surprise that you have to wait and watch for.

Temperament

Dalmatians like to keep to themselves and are aloof with strangers. They are loyal and loving pets that are great for families.

Dalmatians are also known to be good watchdogs. Pit bulls are known to be aggressive but that is not really true.

They are a little aggressive towards other dogs. So, you can expect the offspring to be a moderately tempered dog.

Doberman Pinscher Pit Bull Mix (Doberpit)

My cute doberpit #doberpit #happy #goofy #hungry

Also called Pit Pinschers, this is another mix of two very different breeds, especially when it comes to physical appearance. So, once again, we have to look at the parents to know about the offspring.

Appearance

Pit bulls are bulky, muscular and short but dobbies are tall and have lean muscles. Pit bulls have short noses but Dobermans have long and thin noses.

Pits have round eyes and the eyes of Dobermans are in the shape of an almond. So, the offspring could look like either of the parents.

Sometimes pups in the same litter also end up looking different from each other.

They weigh 50 to 85 pounds and have very short fur. The shedding is minimum and grooming is a low-maintenance job.

Temperament

These dogs are quite hyper and have a strong prey drive. They need exercise every day. So, make it a part of your routine too.

They can be a bit high strung. So, early socialization and training is recommended. These are intelligent and protective dogs. They are also quite loyal.

English Setter Pit Bull Mix (Setter Pit)

The Setter Pit is a good-looking and powerful dog which is a combination to die for in a pet. And the best news is that they are eager to please people.

They have a beautiful spotted coat and also a feathered coat. The offspring does not have as much hair as the Setter.

But it is likely to have long hair on the legs, chest and ears.

Temperament

These dogs are loving and outgoing. They like to please people which makes them a bad watchdog but easy to get along with.

They have good prey instincts like both their parents and tend to focus on small animals like birds.

German Shepherd Pit Bull Mix (German Pitbull)

DSC_0034s

This is a medium to large dog that has the best traits of both parents.

Appearance

This is a fairly new breed and grows from 17 to 25 inches tall at the shoulder and can weigh anywhere from 30 to 90 pounds.

It is hard to say if the pups will be small or large because of the variation in the parents’ sizes. But the males tend to be larger than the females.

Temperament

They are friendly when they get the right kind of training and socialization. They are extremely loyal and are hardworking dogs.

These are very intelligent and also athletic dogs that are good as guard dogs and can also be good police dogs.

Golden Retriever Pit Bull Mix (Golden Pitbull)

This is a highly unusual mix and caring for them can be quite the task. However, Golden Pit Bulls are good companion dogs.

Appearance

They grow up to 17 to 24 inches in height and weigh 30 to 75 pounds. This means, they can look very much like one parent or be a mix of both.

They could be thin and lean or wide and muscular. They could have the solid golden color of the Retriever or have a mix of dark colors against white like the pit bull.

The fur could be of any length but if it is short, it is typically thin and fine.

Temperament

It is very tricky to predict their behavior. So if you want to get one, make sure you learn about the pups parents first.

Generally, they are a mix of playful and energetic. They are confident, sweet and fiercely loyal dogs.

Great Dane Pit Bull Mix (Great Danebull)

The Great Dane is giant and a pit bull is, well, not. So the combination is a large, muscular and imposing offspring.

But it does have a goofy personality. So, that’s comforting.

Appearance

The pups tend to weigh around 90 to 100 pounds or more. Some of them even reach 175 pounds.

Great Danebulls are tall and lanky like the Great Dane parent. The coat is usually short and tight and has many colors and patterns on it.

These are very impressive looking dogs.

Temperament

These are sweet and dependable dogs which is important when one of the parents is the size of a pony. They must be trained well because they are good watchdogs.

They are brave like the pit bull and ferocious like the Great Dane. They are not great with other dogs, though, just like their parents.

Great Pyrenees Pit Bull Mix (Pyrenees Pit)

Temperament

These are independent spirits with a strong will. So it can be a bit difficult to train them.

The Pyrenees Pits are athletic and require moderate exercise for about an hour a day. This keeps them fit and happy.

Greyhound Pit Bull Mix (Greybull Pit)

This is a very active and energetic dog. So, they need about an hour of walking and playing every day.

This is as much about exercise as it is about keeping them busy. And that’s one thing you don’t want to ignore.

Appearance

The typical Greybull Pit male grows 19 to 30 inches tall and weighs 30 to 85 pounds. The females on the other hand grow 17 to 19 inches tall and weigh 30 to 85 pounds.

They have a broad head and a muscular neck. These are stocky, strong and agile dogs considering their size.

Temperament

This one gets the temperament from both parents. The pit bull is confident and courageous. But they are also stubborn dogs that need early training.

The Greyhound is social and not aggressive at all. Both breeds are independent and intelligent. They are also sensitive to tensions in the house.

The offspring of these two dogs is sensitive but also has a mind of their own. You need to be consistent and firm with instructions so that they grow to be dependable.

Husky Pit Bull Mix (Pitsky)

Speaking of independent dogs, here is a mix of very independent huskies and stubborn pit bulls. So the result is a dog that does not wait for you to entertain them.

Appearance

Your mix is likely to be about 45 to 50 pounds heavy and have an extremely thick coat. This is the result of the Siberian Husky parent that is prepared for sub-zero temperatures.

The offspring might also have a double coat which has elements of the pit bull’s short and tight coat.

Temperament

Pit bulls are bold and outgoing and huskies have a mind of their own. So, this pup might be a bit crazy, impulsive and stubborn.

But on the bright side, they can entertain themselves without bothering you all the time. That’s an advantage when you have a highly energetic dog.

Jack Russell Pit Bull Mix (Jack Pit)

This is a dog with defined muscles and a strong jaw. You need to have some experience to deal with these dogs.

Appearance

It is tricky to predict what the offspring of these two breeds will look like. Typically, they will be a medium-sized dog with one parent influencing the rest of the looks.

If they are like the Jack Russell Terriers, the pups will be small as opposed to a pit bull dominance.

They are cute looking dogs with a manageable vibe.

Temperament

The Jack Pit, as it is sometimes called, loves people and is extremely friendly even with strangers like its parents. It is not a good watchdog.

Since pit bulls are kind towards children, they are called nanny dogs. You can expect to see that with this offspring too.

Jack Pits need to be socialized early on and be trained till they accept other dogs. As you know, pit bulls are a bit aggressive towards other dogs and you can expect to see a glimpse of that in the Jack Pit if you don’t train them.

Labrador Pit Bull Mix (Pitador)

A lot of them have a broad head, long muzzles and pointed ears. They come with short coats in a range of colors.

Temperament

These are friendly and loving dogs. If you socialize them in time, they get along with people and other pets too.

They can have a high prey drive and have trouble getting along with cats and other small animals. But you can teach them to like cats and it is easy to do so.

Maltese Pit Bull Mix

Not much is known about this particular mix. So, the best way to understand what your pup will be like is to check the history of both parents.

Appearance

This is a cross between a Maltese which weighs about eight to 12 pounds and a pit bull which is 40 to 45 pounds.

Maltese dogs have long, straight and white coats that need a lot of grooming but pit bulls have a short and shiny coat which is easy to maintain and comes in so many colors.

So, the offspring’s look depends on the genes of the dominant parent.

Temperament

What we do know about this mix is that these dogs love to chew and bite stuff. So, you must train them to get them off your valuables.

They are also known to bark at strangers around their family members. So, you need to get started on early socialization so that your guests are not hassled by the barking.

The coat itself is likely to be short and fine with low to moderate shedding. You need to groom them once a week and keep a vacuum handy.

Temperament

They are not the best option for families with children because they could knock down your little ones.

They are known for their intelligence and are highly trainable. But remember that they are strong willed and are not for those who have a soft approach.

They need a confident leader who is assertive and consistent with their commands.

Pomeranian Pit Bull Mix

This one is an interesting mix because of how ridiculously different the parents look. It’s almost as crazy as the pit bull and Great Dane mix. Who thinks of these things?

Appearance

The Pomeranian is a toy dog. So, these dogs can be small to medium sized and have a compact and sturdy body with a head that is tapered and fox like. It has a thick coat and has full ruff, feathering on the legs and a plume-like tail.

The dog and its coat come in a range of combinations of colors and patterns like brindle, parti, piebald and pointed. The fur is thick and medium length.

Temperament

Aggression is a problem only if the parent pit bull was encouraged to be so by irresponsible pet owners and breeders. These dogs have the feisty nature of Poms that are small dogs but think they are big.

But that is balanced by the calm from a well-raised pit bull. Early socialization and training is advised if you don’t know much about the parents.

Poodle Pit Bull Mix (Boodle)

Also called a Boodle, this is a loyal dog that is easy to train. They are a family-oriented, smart and humorous breed of dogs.

Appearance

The appearance of a litter depends on the history of the parent.

Pit bulls frame ranges from 18 to 24 inches while Poodles are about 15 inches tall. Pit bulls weigh up to 60 pounds while Poodles have a range of 45 to 70 pounds.

Pitties have a short and sleek coat while Poodles have thick and curly coats. Both have a long list of rather colorful coats.

So, the mix will probably have a curly coat with a large head and a muscular body. But nothing is certain, really.

Temperament

The Poodle and pit bull mix dogs adapt very well and are good companion dogs for kids and grown ups. They are intelligent and willing to learn like their pit bull parent.

They are also obedient which makes them easily trainable. This cross is said to increase their adaptability and companionship instincts.

So you are likely to get a sweet-natured pup that is also protective and friendly.

Pug Pit Bull Mix (Pugbull)

This is an interesting mix. The result is an adorable, fun-loving pup which makes for a great companion dog.

Appearance

Pugs are small and under 20 pounds. So, the mix is expected to be about 30 or 40 pounds. The Pugbull mix also has a squished face and forward facing eyes.

Its coat is probably short and the face has a distinctive dark color. The tail is probably going to be narrow but may or may not be twisted like its pug parent.

Temperament

The Pugbull is likely to be a happy go lucky dog which likes to make you laugh. It is not big on obedience but that is not because of aggression or attitude issues.

This one is a goofy little dog that comes with the charm and mischief of the pug and the funny and playful nature of the pit bull.

Rat Terrier Pit Bull Mix

This is a mix of a sensitive and loving small dog with a powerful pit bull. The result is a sensitive and intelligent dog with good muscles called a Pitbull Rat Terrier mix.

Appearance

This mix of breeds is likely to produce a dog with a smooth and tight coat with a distinctive color inherited from the Rat Terrier. It will probably weigh 30 to 40 pounds and look smooth and elegant when it moves.

Temperament

The good news is that these dogs are easy to train because they seem to know what the trainer is thinking and follow orders. They work just to please their owners.

Which means you don’t have to work too hard to motivate them. They are good family dogs and great with children but it is unclear if they are good with strangers too.

Rottweiler Pit Bull Mix (Pitweiler)

This is a delightful mix. With the gladiatorial spirit of the Rottweiler and the powerful body of the Pit bull, you will get a dog that is gentle and playful with the family but imposes strength on strangers.

Appearance

These dogs are likely to weigh 80 to 100 pounds because of the heavier nature of their Rottweiler parent. The black and tan marking from that parent are also highly inheritable.

The pups are likely to have folded ears and a large face with powerful jaw muscles. Their coat might be anywhere between the short coat of the pit bull or the thick double coat of the Rottweiler.

Temperament

The offspring is said to be indifferent to other dogs but won’t back down if another dog comes into their space. And if there is a fight, you better know that your dog won’t give in.

They may or may not get along with other dogs depending on the training and socializing that happens at an early stage. But they might just be okay with other family dogs when compared to their response to street dogs.

This is a rare breed and so the information is scarce. But we can deduce from the parent breeds.

The mix is usually a stocky and medium-sized dog. It has pointed flop ears with round eyes in a dark color. The hair is short and wiry.

Temperament

The pit bull is strong and energetic and needs experienced and active owners. The same goes for the mixed offspring.

Finding these puppies is challenging but they are sometimes found in shelters. But remember that this is not really a dog for new dog owners and elderly people.

Shar Pei Pit Bull Mix (Sharpull Terrier)

🌞Napfürdő🌞😊😍😎🎣 #zora #mizoránk #sharpull #szelidito #fishing #fishingdog #mixpuppy #instapuppy #instadog #nature #instanature #spring #friday #model #enjoy 🌞:fishi

This is a cross between the Chinese Shar-Pei and the pit bull which makes the offspring a medium to large dog. They live for 10 to 12 years.

Appearance

Shar Pei Pitbull mixes are strong dogs with medium height and weigh up to 60 pounds. They have a short to medium-sized coat with straight and fine hair.

They are not hypoallergenic and have moderate grooming needs because their shedding is moderate to frequent.

Temperament

These dogs need a strong leader and need to be trained early. They are independent and dominant but also very loyal and loving with the family.

They have a strong will and need an experienced and active owner. If you love and treat them well, they will reciprocate the same.

Shetland Sheepdog Pitbull Mix

Not much is known about this mix so we will have to learn about the parent breeds to understand what is to be expected.

Appearance

The Shetland Sheepdog and the pitbull are both medium-sized dogs. While the Pittie weighs 22-78 pounds, the Shettie weighs 14-27 pounds.

The pitbull’s average weight is 50 pounds and the Shettie is about 20 pounds. The former grows about 14 to 24 inches and the Shetland Sheepdog grows 13 to 16 inches tall.

So, you can expect the offspring of these two breeds to be full of surprises.

Temperament

It is the same with their temperament. They are both affectionate, intelligent and friendly dogs.

But the Pittie is said to be of average obedience and intelligence while the Shettie is one of the brightest dog breeds.

They are both quite easy to train. So, you have a good pup lined up.

Shih Tzu Pit Bull Mix (Pitzu)

This mix is also a good one but what the result will look and feel like is anyone’s guess.

Appearance

These dogs typically grow from 10 to 25 inches tall and weigh about 15 to 30 pounds. Their face is flatter like the Shih Tzu parent when compared to the square features of a pit bull.

The Shih Tzu is a small, stocky dog but the pit bull is a medium and muscular dog. So, it is hard to predict the look of the mix.

But they do have silky and fluffy fur like their Shih Tzu parent. The parents come in a bunch of colors and with a lot of markings. So, you can expect to see that.

Temperament

Both parents have a pleasant head. So the mix is also expected to be that way.

They are expected to be good companions to families apart from being energetic and loyal.

They need to be socialized early so that they don’t become aggressive or fearful adults like their Shih Tzu parents.

Springer Spaniel Pit Bull Mix (Springer Pit)

This is a medium-sized pooch with an adorable face and a medium-length coat.

Appearance

These mixes come in a range of coat colors from white, black, brindle or blue. You could also get one in a combination of these colors.

They have muscular bodies and strong legs. Their jaws are powerful. So, don’t mess with them.

They have a lot of energy and require a lot of exercise.

Temperament

They don’t have the absolute independence that pit bulls feel. But they are smart, affectionate and easy to train.

They love their owners and can develop anxiety or be destructive if left alone for a long time.

St. Bernard Pit Bull Mix (Saint Pitbull)

Isn’t Saint Pit Bull the best name ever? I mean, pit bulls have a reputation of being aggressive (even though that’s not really true) and you almost always see a Saint Bernard sitting and chilling.

Also called Saint Bullnard, this is a rare but loved cross breed. The result of these two parents is a strong and protective offspring.

Appearance

This is a dog that needs a lot of exercise on a daily basis. So, owners need to be active folks.

Their coat colors vary but they usually have a white patch on their chest like the Saint Bernard. These dogs are over 100 pounds and tend to have complications during pregnancy like the Saint Bernard parent because of their size.

Temperament

This is a patient and gentle dog meets playful dog situation. But they are relatively a bit mellow, broadly speaking.

Apart from the size, the other important thing to note is that they also seem to drool quite a bit like their Saint Bernard parent. So, keep a towel handy at all times.

Vizsla Pit Bull Mix

The Vizsla Pitbull mix is another rare mix and not too much is known about the offspring itself. But here is what we know from the parents.

Appearance

Vizslas and pit bulls are both athletic dogs. The former are hunting dogs and meant to retrieve game animals.

They grow up to 20 inches and weigh about 50 pounds. They are known to be playful and loyal like Pit bulls. So, expect that in the offspring.

The mix also has long legs like the Vizsla and have box-like muzzles resembling the Pitties. Their coats are short and come in a range of colors.

Temperament

Both parent dogs are affectionate, friendly and intelligent. Vizslas are very intelligent while pit bulls have an average-level obedience and intelligence.

Both dog breeds are easy to train. So, the offspring should be the same which is a relief.

They are also both very playful and Vizslas are actually borderline clownish. So, you will have a lot of fun with the offspring.

Weimaraner Pit Bull Mix (Pittmaraner)

View this post on Instagram

❤️🐶👏🏻🤟🏻 Let’s give a big welcome to the pack to Miss Marley! Miss Marley’s hooman reaches out to me bc she needs to learn her obedience commands. Althoughhhh, I saw a well behaved big dawgg when I was there 🤷🏻‍♀️😂. Mom says.. “umm she’s not normally like this haha..” I respond and say, “yaaaa..that’s how they know when their trainer is in house..” 😂❤️. ❤️🐶Miss Marley is a Pit Bull & Weimaraner Mix: The Pittmaraner And Weimar Bully❤️🐶 ….. “To understand our crossbreeds, let’s actually start by talking about their parents. And the first one I’m going to show you is the Weimaraner. Originated in Germany in the 19th century, the Weimaraner was initially bred to be a hunting dog. They have a lot of stamina and energy. Whoever owns a Weimaraner must constantly bring the dog outside to play and stimulate him mentally. This breed won’t tolerate being inside for long periods. In speaking of the Pit Bulls, let’s dive into their main characteristics! Although they share a bunch of similarities with Weimaraners, they diverge in many aspects as well. I personally find this an advantage. We can get an exciting combination with a hybrid between these dogs. Pit Bulls are, unfortunately, highly misunderstood. Many people believe they’re aggressive and attack people for any reason. That’s totally false!” 🤟🏻👏🏻 Great job today mom and Miss Marley! I am super excited to continue working with you both! 🐶❤️👏🏻🤟🏻

This is a sturdy and lovely dog, the Pittmaraner is a dog that responds to and reciprocates your love and dedication.

This is a rare mix and has some really excellent traits from both parents but is relatively unknown as a hybrid.

Appearance

This is a medium to large size dog with an average height of 21 to 22 inches. The males have a slightly bigger build because of the Weimaraner’s influence.

They are also heavy, growing up to 60 pounds and you will need to make some space in the house also because they are energetic dogs.

Temperament

They get along well with other dogs and people even if they aren’t the most amicable hybrid. So, you will find them bark at strangers rather randomly.

This can get worse if they are not trained as pups. Their behavior is generally unpredictable and so they are not the best watchdogs.

Whippet Pit Bull Mix (Putwhips)

Also called Putwhips, these are a mix of the lean dog Whippet and a burly Pitbull. They live for eight to 15 years.

Appearance

The average height of the offspring is to be between 18 and 22 inches and they tend to weigh between 25 and 60 pounds.

Their coats can have a range of colors like tan, brindle, brown, white, fawn, blue and black.

Temperament

If you train and socialize them well, the pups turn out to be well-rounded dogs. Whippets are calm but pit bulls are energetic. So, the offspring can find a balance with obedience training.

This pup needs a lot of exercise and must be exposed to a variety of experiences from puppyhood. This makes them a happy and healthy companion dog.

Yorkie Pitbull Mix (Porkie, Yorkie Pit)

The Pitbull Yorkie mix, affectionately known as the Porkie, is a delightful hybrid breed that combines the loyalty and strength of the American Pitbull Terrier with the charm and elegance of the Yorkshire Terrier. This adaptable and affectionate companion captures the hearts of dog lovers with its unique appearance, playful nature, and unwavering devotion to its family.

Appearance

They are small to medium size dogs with a wiry coat like the Yorkie. The color could be tawny and brown or grey and black.

They have upright ears and a strong but non-bulky body. Tail docking is an extremely bad idea with this breed.

Temperament

Both the parents are from the Terrier background so they are bold, energetic and have a high prey driver. They get aggressive if they are not socialized.

These are loyal and sensitive dogs that like to please people. If they act out, you must respond immediately and take them to training.

The Bottom Line

The pitbull is one of the most misunderstood dogs and has a bad reputation. But they are loving dogs and care deeply for their family.

Unless you breed them with the exact opposite, they are likely to be that way. So, pick the partner wisely and you will have a dog you are destined to fall in love with.
