Handimals by Guido Daniele

Hands not only create Guido Daniele‘s works of art, they also act as canvases. Daniele began his ”Handimals” collection after being hired by an advertising agency to turn models’ hands into animals. “I researched each animal in depth to see how I could transfer it to a hand, and then set about bringing it to life,” he told Shay Howe. He’s since used the trompe l’oeil technique in advertorials for AT&T, Stern watches, and the World Wildlife Foundation.

Mike Bender and Doug Chernack created AwkwardFamilyPetPhotos.com after the success of their hilarious website AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com. The site, featuring weirdly wonderful portraits of people and their pets, is a great time-suck when you’re looking to get lost in the Internets. But let’s face it, sometimes we need a break from being online. Luckily, there’s now a book, published by Three Rivers Press, featuring some of the best, most awkward pet portraits from the site.
Turtle Noms Pumpkin Pie

Oh, turtles. Is there nothing they can’t do? I had a pet turtle when I was a kid – he was named Leonardo (after the coolest Teenage Mutant Ninja, naturally) and he was awesome. Well now I’m beating myself up, because Leo never had a taste of delicious pumpkin pie! He only ate smelly fish pellets. I promise that if I ever get another turtle (hint, hint, husband!) I’ll bake him/her a pie. I don’t know if I’ll feed them off my fork, though… seems a little unsanitary.
