Does the Dog Park Stress You Out?
Pawesome Poll

When we used to foster dogs, Tim and I had a deal: I’d walk them in the morning on weekdays because I had to get up early anyway to go to work, and Tim would walk them in the morning on the weekends so I could sleep in. The problem was, regardless of the day of the week, Tim hated going to the dog park. Read the rest of this entry »
Test Tube Meat Looks Like a Million Bucks
Pawesome Poll

Back in 2008, PETA announced that it would award $1,000,000 to the “first person to come up with a method to produce commercially viable quantities of in vitro meat at competitive prices by 2012.” I remembered reading about this at the time and being kind of delighted and intrigued. While “test tube meat” certainly doesn’t sound appetizing, what it represented — spared suffering for millions and millions of farm animals (not to mention reduced CO2 emissions and air and water quality problems) — sounded, well, great.
But here we are, with 2012 fast approaching, and I don’t know if anyone is close to claiming the prize. A straw poll indicates there is little consensus from the market for test tube meat. My boyfriend, a guilty omnivore, is totally in favor. But many others are not.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment. And if you have any further updates on the fate of test tube meat, please let us know in the Comments!

Animals Seek Homes on YouTube
Pawesome Poll
Best Friends Animal Society is a pioneer for animal welfare and advocacy in so many important ways. One thing that I think they do so well is to really engage their online community. They have a powerful and broad base of supporters and adopters, and Best Friends makes the most of that resource in a number of important ways.
One thing I’ve noticed lately is that they put up videos on YouTube of “Adorable Adoptables” — animals at the sanctuary, often special needs, who are still looking for homes.
