Not a big surprise here, but a recent study by the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University found that having pets around can help women cope with HIV/AIDS.

The study’s findings are published in the online journal Women’s Health Issues in the article ”The Relationship Between Social Roles and Self-Management Behavior in Women Living with HIV/AIDS.” What’s most important about this study, says Allison R. Webel, co-author of the study, is that these findings can probably apply to women managing other chronic illnesses.  Read the rest of this entry »
