Favorite Things

Wow, photographer Carli Davidson has done it again! Back in August, Kira wrote about her “Shake” series, photographs capturing pets mid-shake. Now, she has another amazing series, this time of pets with disabilities, including blind chihuahua Diego and his guide pug Buddy Nixon, seen above.

When Good Pets Photobomb

Two of my dogs, Bixby and Sox, love being in front of the camera. Usually that is fine and dandy with me since I do pet photography for a living but if I try to take pictures of anything but them they will photobomb my shots. For instance, when their less camera loving sister, Peetie poses for her shot, Bixby and Sox can’t help but bombard the frame.

When looking through my achieves I will occasionally come across photos of my dogs photobombing, whether it be their furry little ears or an out of focus tail. As I checked these out, it got me thinking. Do our Pawesome readers have any shots of their pets photobombing that they want to share? If so, I need to see or hear about it! Post photos and stories in the comments or on our Facebook wall.

Ferreting Around

It’s hard for me to believe that ferrets are still illegal in some states. To this day there still seems to be a certain stigma attached to these critters. I know when I tell people that I have ferrets as pets I get a lot of weird looks followed by a bunch of misconceptions and grievances about why they are horrible animals (don’t worry, I live in Arizona so it totes legal to have them).

Ferrets may be a little unconventional but they are totally great pets! Yes, they do have a certain odor to them, but that can managed most of the time. Plus a group of ferrets are called a “business,” it doesn’t get any more awesome than that!

Here is a gallery devoted an awesome, musky animal that totally rocks. Read the rest of this entry »

Animal Lipstick Art

Yesterday I stumbled across Paige Thompson’s lip art series called “Animal-ipstick” and I keep finding myself staring at them. Her unique take on face painting is colorful, creative, and bold.

Maybe wearing animal art on your lips isn’t a practical make-up choice but you have to admit it would be awesome to be able to kiss a bee without getting a stinger in your lip.
