Food Packaging Concepts

I admit it, I totally judge a book by its cover. And by book, I mean products. I’ve been known to buy certain brands of coconut water, shampoo, chocolate, and lotion due solely to the well designed packaging it comes in. So, why not do the same with pet food?
Unfortunately, while the quality of pet food has improved over the years, the packaging it comes in has remained rather bland. While perusing the site Lovely Package though, I found a few examples of student design work that tackles this very dilemma. I can only hope some of the food manufacturers take a look at this concept work and are inspired to re-imagine their packaging.
Quick! Somebody Catch the Fishbowl!
This “Bubble Tank” by Psalt Design was inspired by the shape of a bead of water before it rolls over an edge. It is also sure to freak out anyone who walks by and mistakenly thinks your fishies are about to fall off the table. Clearly one of the cuter fish in your tank Clown Fish is adorable, colorful and made famous by that one little guy in that Disney flick. Quite popular in most fine fish keeper’s aquariums, the Clown Fish make a fantastic addition to anyone’s home and really add such life to any fish family. So bright and distinct, the Clown Fish was easy to round up for this week’s The Etsy Herd.

Ghost Koi on Valencia Street

Are these koi that I recently saw on Valencia Street in San Francisco more of Jeremy Novy’s handiwork? If so, they seem to have had a run in with his most recent sidewalk cat.
