Second Hand Pet Toy Drive

Now that your pets scored rad holiday gifts, maybe they’re willing to part with some of the stuff they were never really that into? Catster has a great post that suggests looking around your house and donating to your local shelter the toys and beds that your furry friends have turned their noses up at. One kitty’s trash could be another’s catnip treasure!

How rad would it be to organize a pet toy drive in your community?!

Don’t Forget Pawesome’s Dollar-for-Dollar Campaign for the Berkeley Humane Society

When Pawesome was nominated for a Petties award, while we were stoked to be recognized for our pawesomeness, we were more excited about the prospect of donating our $1,000 prize to the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society. In May 2010 the organization suffered from a fire that gutted their facility and they’ve been struggling to raise funds to rebuild. While it’s a bummer we didn’t win a Petties, Pawesome has decided to give back to the Berkeley Humane Society anyway and we would love your help.

Pawesome will match your donation to the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society, in a dollar for dollar campaign. We can give a maximum of $500, so with help from you guys, we can all chip in $1,000 to this wonderful organization.

To participate, simply select the Shelter Fire Relief Fund button on the BEBHS donation page, make your donation, and then forward your donation receipt to pawesomehelps [at] pawesome [dot] net.

Thanks so much!

That was truly a tragic day — though it could have been worse! I gave Milo the silent treatment the rest of the day. Amanda Bradshaw, on the other hand, thought up a brilliant project when her pug destroyed one of her books.

Help Feral Cats and Get Awesome Holiday Gifts with Teal Cat Project

I’ve posted about the Teal Cat Project, a fund-raising initiative from vegan cookbook author Isa Chandra Moskowitz, at Pawesome before. I’m clearly a fan — and I write for their blog — but I also really think the org is doing a great thing by raising money for organizations like Alley Cat Allies, the beneficiary of their latest campaign.
