Sadie Scans the Tracks at the New York Transit Museum

I saw my fair share of cats while living in New York, but I (thankfully) never saw one in the subway. I do wonder, though, with the rampant rat problem within New York’s subway system if there isn’t a gang of feral cats happily living on a buffet de rat underground.

While Sadie, a plump grey and whit cat, doesn’t live amongst the live subway tracks, she does keep the rodents in check at New York’s Transit Museum — or at least that’s why she was brought in.

Emily of I Ride the Harlem Line is a frequent visitor of the museum and on her latest trip she was able to snap a few photos of sweet Sadie.

Upon a visit to the museum, I had this conversation with the ticket collector:
Me: So is the rat catcher around today?
Him: The what?
Me: The cat. Sadie. Is she around?
Him: (Laughs) She’s around somewhere, probably catching more Z’s than rats though!

Check out her post and adorable snapshots of the city’s most well fed employee.

Patient Labs
Curbed

Saw these two beautiful labs patiently waiting for their owner to return from the Live Oak Farmers Market a few Sundays back. They were so intent on watching their owner walk past the stands that I couldn’t even get them to give the camera a glimpse. Pure loyalty.

Hello My Name Is… Jozy

Name, age, sex, breed: Jozy, 1, girl, short-haired domestic kitten

Owner, city: Washington, DC

How I got my name: My full name is Jozy Kitty – but my parents affectionately call me Jo, Jo bear and even Jo bunny, even though I’m pretty sure I’m a cat, not a bunny. When I first met my parents they thought I was a boy and named me after my dad’s favorite soccer player – Jozy Altidore. Turns out – I’m a girl! But luckily the name still worked.
