Lost Cat Travels 190 Miles Home

Having something happen to one of my dogs is my biggest worry. They’re my little lifelines these days and I’d be devastated without them. I like to joke that I couldn’t get them to run away even I wanted them to. They’re pretty much attached to my hip at all times. Holly, a 4-year-old tortoiseshell cat got lost when her family took her on vacation. The cat was frightened by some fireworks and ran out the door of their motor home. Two months later, she was found w
andering in a neighbor’s yard near their home — nearly 200 miles away from where she’d gone missing.
Fortunately, Holly was microchipped and the neighbor who found her thought to take her to a nearby vet to be scanned. According to a vet interviewed by ABC News, this story is not typical. While animals have a sense of direction, it’s really unusual for a cat to find a way home over long distances. Go Holly!

What a great story! When I was a kid we had a dog that would constantly wander for weeks on end and then wander back, totally healthy and well. He was once found on the other side of town and we thought THAT was a big trek. This takes the cake!
