The Modern Cat Persons’ Abode

Design-savvy couple Alexandra Cunningham and Seth Cameron share a fashionable New York City apartment with their three beloved cats. The key words in that sentence are design, New York City, fashionable, and cats. Basically, this isn’t your Aunt Marge’s cat-lady apartment.

Per a New York Times story, since both Cunningham and Cameron work in art and design, they decided to make a more modern, artistic homage to their felines. The kitchen, for example, takes a birdcage effect. Three stripes on the ceiling, two solid black and one gray, match the cats’ cooperative color palette.

According to the couple:

The idea was, we’re both crazy for the cats, and thought it would be nice to integrate them in the design of the apartment, Ms. Cunningham said.

And if we’re going to be cute about it, Mr. Cameron said, we need to be abstract about it. We were not going to paint cats on the wall.

Wait, are we not supposed to be painting cats on walls? This is news to me.

All in all, very well done! I think I’m a little funkier of a pet designer (i.e. more tolerant of Boston terrier salt shakers), but I give this one an A plus for concept and execution.
