Hello, My Name Is… Yazhi

Name, age, sex, breed: Yazhi, one and a half years, male, pitbull-lab mix

Owner, city: Hannah, Atlanta, Georgia

How I got my name: My mommy found me at an Navajo Indian Reserve. I was so tiny that she called me Little One at first, and then Yazhi, because that means little one in Navajo.

How we met: My mommy found me when I was a tiny little puppy living as a stray dog at a Navajo Indian Reserve. She fell in love with my adorable little nose and unique floppy ears. Since I didn’t have any family, and I was really skinny and unhappy, she brought me home and has loved me ever since!

Personality type: I’m very relaxed and chill. I like to lay on blankets or a pillow for hours on end, as long as my mommy is there to keep me company. I’m very polite and sweet, I never bark, and I’m rarely naughty. I’m a quick learner and very obedient. When you play with me, I’m very energetic and crazy, but if you tell me to go to my pillow, I’ll quiet down right away. My mommy likes to tell everyone that I’m the perfect dog, and I tend to agree.

Siblings: none

Pet peeves: I don’t like gunshots, they’re very scary. Fireworks, if they’re very loud, can be scary too.

Favorite place to lounge: I love to sleep anywhere there are blankets and pillows, especially on my mommy’s unmade bed. For some reason, this makes her very angry. In my mind, if it’s laying on the ground, why can’t I sleep on it? I don’t like laying anywhere that’s hard; I can be pretty stubborn about that.

Favorite foods: I love corn on the cob! It’s really yummy and fun to chew. I don’t really like any dog food. My mommy found a brand I will eat reluctantly, but I don’t devour it, because I’m really picky.

Forbidden indulgences: I love to run and run and run as long as I can! Sometimes, when I’m outside, I’ll just run in circles around my mommy. It makes her laugh. I love when my mommy laughs, because I know I made her happy. I also love to have my chin scratched.

Strangest habits: I do weird things all the time. My mommy says I’m a weirdo! Sometimes I will run from one side of the living room and into the kitchen and slide down the hardwood and then run back. I run so fast and slide so long that it makes me scramble and fall all over. Mommy says it looks like I have 8 legs! I think it’s really fun!

Stand-out physical feature: My beautiful ears! They flop forwards and when I perk them up, they face directly forwards. Everywhere I go, people compliment my ears. When my mommy is sad, she likes to stroke my ears, because they are so soft they comfort her.

Things you might not know if I didn’t tell or show you: When my mommy first found me at the Navajo Indian Reserve, one of her friends named Carlos loved me to death. He thought I was amazing! Carlos was from Bakersfield, CA and he was in the Southside gang there. They always wear the color blue. My mommy never really talks to Carlos anymore, but even now, she makes sure I have a blue collar in memory of him, because she knows I love him and he loves me.

Thanks Yazhi and Hannah!
