Foster Dog Bert is Missing in San Francisco

This little guy is Bert. Bert is a 7 lb chihuahua mix who is being fostered through Grateful Dogs Rescue in San Francisco. He disappeared at Fort Funston two weeks ago and is still missing. He has a rare autoimmune disease (Addison’s disease) and is need of daily medication. Bert is mostly dark brown with tan markings on his face/legs. He was wearing a blue collar and tags and is microchipped. He has been spotted in several places in South San Francisco. He is believed to still be in the area and scared. If you’ve seen Bert call 415-672-1343 or the Peninsula Humane Society at 650-340-7922. If you live in the area, please visit Grateful Dogs Rescue’s website for more information on where he’s been spotted, a downloadable flyer and how you can help. Pawesome’s paws are crossed for Bert!
UPDATE on 10/22/12:
I’m very sad to share that Bert was found dead at Fort Funston this past Saturday. Our thoughts are with Grateful Dogs Rescue, Bert’s foster family and all of his pals. All dogs go to heaven.

What happened tolittle Bert. He was a long time lost, Was he hit by a car or was it not getting his medication ???
Hi Pat. According to Grateful Dogs Rescue, Bert’s cause of death cannot be determined. He’d been gone for some time when he was found. They want to remember him for the sweet little guy he was rather than discuss the details of his death. It seems he was fostered with the rescue group for an extended time so the little guy certainly felt lots of love in his last months of life.
Another update to share: There will be a memorial event and fundraiser in honor of Bert this Saturday, 10/27/12 in Potrero Hill. All of the details are posted on the Grateful Dogs Rescue facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GratefulDogsRescue.
