Solving the Bandana Conundrum

A few weeks ago we inherited an amazing australian shepherd. Technically we’re fostering him for my sister-in-law while she works out in the desert, but I have a feeling we won’t be able to give Chip back. This guy is beyond awesome. He plays really well with Milo, Fynn adores him, and he’s amaze-balls with the cats. I’m actually hoping his zen-like interactions with the kitties will rub off on Milo the terrorist. So far, so good.
When Chip came to us he was full on, long-hair aussie. Being the middle of summer, his ‘do was a little oppressive, plus it was turning into a primo spot for fleas to set up camp. A dose of flea meds and a trip to the groomers has completely changed this dude. I got him a puppy cut and, well, that’s exactly what he now looks like. Every time we’re out and about people stop me to ask how old my puppy is. “Ten,” I say.
“Months?” they ask.
“No, years.” This usually leads to mouths dropping to the floor.
Being an australian shepherd, when I went to pick up Chip from the groomers he came bounding out with a bandana around his neck. What is it about bandanas and australian shepherds? While I think the accessory is cute, I do find them a little annoying when on leash. They always get tangled up with your dog’s collar. Good thing pet design company, Wildebeest, is so darn clever.

The San Francisco-based company has come up with a bandana/collar combo that is both genius and stylish. The design involves two sets of modern and minimal textile designs sewn together into a bandana fold. A mildew, UV and stretch resistant collar slides between the two fabrics so that collar and bandana become one.

Because two different fabrics are used, you can switch it up depending on what kind of mood your pup is in — parisian sailor stripes or minimalist grey. If the bandana gets dirty at the dog run, just slip out the collar and throw the fabric in the wash.
There are currently three styles of the XX Bandana Collar, each on sale for $20, with new designs expected soon. I totally need to get one for Chip! And maybe Milo will score one too…
Here’s a bonus photo of Chip (pre-cut) with his best pal Fynn.

These are so cute! Is it wrong that I want one for my baby?
those are so cute! i would love to outfit my dog in these. my two dogs always pull them off of each other – they can’t really wear outfits together.
