The other day I looked at my Gmail and realized that 98% of the emails sitting (many unread) in my inbox are notifications from flash sale sites. I went a little sign up crazy when I discovered there were sites offering weekly deals on designer goods. I’ve got all aspects of my life on a deal alert – from baby to home — but I have to admit that I only tend to take advantage of a flash sale when it involves pet goods (or pet themed stuff). You can imagine how worried I am about my bank account now that I’ve discovered a flash sale site made just for doggie deal scavengers like myself.
Inubar launched last month and works much like other flash sale sites. Each week they offer a collection of pet goods at a discount for a limited time. The price cuts aren’t as severe as some other flash sale sites, but inubar, so far, is pretty good about curating a collection of unique beds and toys you may not find elsewhere.
Ran Tao and Tiffany Luck, the site’s co-founders, find their goods via their network of dog and design lovers which include bloggers, pet owners they meet at dog parks, and current artisan suppliers who recommend others they admire. “We curate for quality and design and choose only products that we would buy for our own dogs,” Tiffany tells Pawesome.
“Part of our mission is to help smaller, lesser-known brands with distribution, and in the future, we also plan to collaborate with them on user-inspired designs where users vote on product elements pre-production (e.g. patterns for dog bed covers).”
The site currently caters to dog owners, but Tiffany and Ran hope to expand to kitties in 2013. Unlike other flash sale sites, inubar offers both new products on discount for a limited time as well as member favorites that are always available to purchase. Hide my wallet please!
