Artists Including Ryan Adams and Crystal Antlers Contribute Unreleased Tracks to Help an Injured Kitten
Pawesome readers may already be familiar with the story of the Burger Records kitten — staff at the California indie label rescued the cutie after finding her running around under cars on the freeway. A visit to the vet revealed that the kitten ended up in that dangerous spot by either falling or (sob!) being tossed, and she needed surgery to repair her pelvis and knee.
Anyone who’s visited a vet knows that even check-ups can get pricey, and surgery bills add up quickly. In this case, to $2,200. Lucky for Burger Records, they’ve got some awesome friends, including Ryan Adams, Summer Twins, and Crystal Antlers — those artists and 47 more contributed a track each to a compilation cassette (so hip right now) called The Kitty Comp. Sales from the 500 copies of the comp that were produced will go to pay off that vet bill, and any additional funds raised beyond the $2,200 will support the ASPCA.
So for $10, you can hear 50 unreleased tracks by cool artists and help a sweet kitten. Not bad!
