Ink + Sword’s Playful Pet PSAs

I ran across Ink + Sword’s screen print posters while (unnecessarily) looking on Etsy for pet-themed artwork. A guilty pleasure of mine. I love the simple graphic nature of these illustrations, as well as the positive propaganda they display. I talked to the folks behind Ink + Sword to get the backstory on these colorful PSAs.

Ink + Sword is the mastermind of Jed Dore and Karen Brazell, both graphic designers with an affinity to pets.

“The PSAs came quite simply from our love of animals and pets that we consider part of our families. Jed and I are both artists and designers and share a fondness for those old 50′s era public service ads and their lineage from the 40′s WPA posters. So naturally, we thought of combining the two and we’ve had a lot of fun sharing them ever since with so many people and their pets. We especially like donating them to various animal shelters and rescues.”
You can find the entire collection of animal PSAs on their site. Karen also has a side project, Life with Tigers, where she sells her handmade dolls, soft sculptures, greeting cards and (severed leg!) catnip toys.
