Animal TV Crack: CBS’ “Dogs in the City”

It’s a scientific fact that people love watching animals on TV. I don’t have any research to back that up, but let’s just say it’s true because it seems totally correct.

Providing some competition for “Dog Whisperer” with Cesar Millan on Nat GEO, CBS premiered a new canine-behavior show: “Dogs in the City.” Manhattanite Justin Silver, who CBS claims is the go-to guy for all things dog, is hosting. He’ll address issues ranging from life-threatening canine obesity to aggressiveness in the office to issues surrounding Beefy, a famed skateboarding bulldog. I’m very interested in his tactics for taming beasts (the canine ones, anyway) in an urban jungle.

Since Animal Planet has some questionable animal programming — I’m looking at you, “North Woods Law” — perhaps CBS is right in trying to lay stake in this market. This adorable, adorable market.

The show runs at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays.
