Lush Charity Pot -> Monetary Hugs

I had a gift card to Lush, and I finally found myself in the area of the San Francisco store. What did I buy?

Charity Pot Body Lotion

According to the site, “every penny that you pay for a pot, excluding the tax, goes to grassroots charities all around the world.” There were a few organizations — printed on the pot — more than worthy of my $21.95. Though it wasn’t itemized as such (you don’t ONLY donate to the charities pictured on your specific Charity Pot), I took home the one with Swan Center Outreach printed on the label.

Dedicating to providing “a safe and loving environment, for previously abused and neglected animals,” it seemed like a sure thing as soon as I turned the pot around to read its label. The Colorado-based organization works in leadership with horses and dogs, therapeutic animal handling, and local 4H groups, among other community efforts. It’s largely an educational facility, and it doesn’t accept animals from private citizens. The animals that do come the center’s way are from affiliated rescue facilities. Whether or not you agree with the group’s spiritual angle, I 100-percent agree with helping animals who need a hand.
