Recycled Bike Tires Turned Dog Leash

Biking is one of the best things you can do for the environment (and your body) but I’ve always wondered how wasteful it may be. Sure you’re not burning petroleum, but you are tossing rubber into a landfill every time you get a flat tire.
Lanette Fidrych decided to figure out a way to reuse all those punctured inner tubes as material for dog leashes and collars.

Lanette started using her deflated tubes to make leashes for her dog Regan when she was just a pup. Over the years, she’s modified the design, resulting in a durable leash featuring a nylon fabric sewed on one side to give it a little pizazz. Lanette has since expanded to collars as well, one of which includes a bottle opener attached to the buckle! You can check out the full line at Cycle Dog. I do wonder if you have to worry about skin or fur aggravations on the collars from the rubber, well, rubbing the area around your dog’s neck.

Recycling tubes is an awesome idea. I get so excited when I see companies get creative and find new uses for old things. So cool.
