As regular readers of this blog know, National Hairball Awareness Day just passed, and Kate Benjamin of Moderncat picked a unique — and I think uniquely successful! — way to celebrate it. Pet owners wage a constant, epic battle against hair every day. For this holiday, however, Kate opted for a different approach to the hair problem, working with jewelry designer Heidi Abrahamson to incorporate her cats’ hair into earrings, a necklace, and a cocktail ring. Wow. Just… wow.

I’m both amazing and unnerved. They’re both very, very pretty and uncomfortably familiar.  I suspect many people will feel the ick factor is too much for them. What do you think?
