Hey Obama, We Want Adopt a Shelter Pet Day!

Mimi Ausland of Bend, Oregon, is a huge pet lover who started Freekibble.com (and Freekibblecat.com), a website where people can play trivia games to help feed healthy dog and cat food to shelter animals (for each question answered, whether right or wrong, 10 pieces of dry food are donated). Since it started in April 2008, Mimi’s site has donated more 251 tons of pet food to 14 shelters, rescue groups, and food banks. And the kicker? Mimi is only 14 years old! Sheesh!

Now that Mimi is on a roll, she’s asking people to support her on her new campaign, to convince the President to make April 30th National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. By going to Freekibble.com, you can e-mail President Obama to urge him to support a day dedicated to adopting shelter pets. To top it off, for every letter sent, Halo will donate one meal to Freekibble to help feed hungry shelter dogs and cats.

Freekibble has set a deadline of September 30, so go to the site and send a letter to the Prez and answer a few trivia questions while you’re at it!
