Alite Design Kung Fu Collar

Kungfucollar01

I asked the hi-larious animal lover I know, Laura Beck of Vegansaurus and SF Vegan Bakesale and her adorable pit bull, Hazel, to review Alite Design’s Kung Fu Collar. Here’s what she had to say:

I live with a big ass pit bull named Hazel. She looks like a total tough girl but she acts like she’s been kicked in the head by a butterfly. I’m not exactly sure what that means, I think my uncle made it up, but the gist is that she’s a sweet, goofy ding-bat. Her demeanor is completely at odds with her appearance. My boyfriend and I often joke that if someone were to break into our apartment, she’d lead them straight to the jewelry (as long as it were next to the Buddy Biscuits). Under her scary-ass (to some. Morons.) exterior, is a sweet lady with a heart made of love (and the stuff that makes hearts function… tissue? veins? Whatever, I’m no scientist). The point to all this exposition is 1) I love my freaking dog and 2) I will only give her The Best, which is what she deserves.

Kungfucollar02 Her prior owners were some shitty, stupid family who left her chained outside and showed her little affection. Knowing what a total love bug she is, this breaks my heart. To over compensate for her screwed-up past, she now chows down on locally made, organic dog food, plays with the finest of kongs, and has a ridiculous amount of collars. Collars, man. Those are my weakness. My collection is rather embarrassing, spanning all the colors of the rainbow, and then some.

Whatever, we all have our secret shames. So, when one of Pawesome’s fearless leaders, Sarah, asked me to test out an Alite Designs collar for Hazel, I jumped at the chance. First of all, just look at Alite’s website, it’s adorable! I want five of everything!

Kungfucollar04 Receiving the collar in the mail was a delight. I got the Kung Fu collar in gray. What first jumps out at you is the sleek design. This is the collar for the dog of the future. Since Hazel plans on living to be a 100 years-old (in human years, even!), this is a good thing. The second thing you notice is the fabulous stash pocket attached to the collar. It’s large enough to fit a poop bag (sans poop), a few bucks, and a couple of keys. Nice.

On our many test drives, Hazel held her head high and I could tell she was proud to be seen in such clean, modern design. The stash pocket proved its use when I busted out my pocketless dresses (please keep up the nice weather, San Francisco!).

Kungfucollar05 Overall, I’m very impressed with the Alite Kung Fu collar… it’s lightweight, durable, and that stash pocket is ingenious. it’s an excellent addition to any collar collection, big or small. My only (small) gripe is that I’d love to own it in colors other than grey or brown. What about a lovely pink? Hazel is a lady, after all.

Thanks Laura and thank you Hazel! Stay tuned for the next Pawesome Giveaway — we’ll be giving away a Kung Fu Collar, Boa Pod, and Boa Lite Leash to three lucky winners.
