Ssscat, the Most Amusing Way to Train Your Cats

Cat-on-screen
Over on Apartment Therapy LA last week, a reader asked for advice on how to get her cat to stop using her screen door as its own personal climbing gym. I had a similar problem in my last apartment, but never figured out how to keep my kitties from clawing their way up and down the screen. In most cases it was an attempt to catch a bug on the other side, so I couldn't really be that mad.

Reader comments on the ATLA post varied from helpful, Sticky Paws, to not so helpful, "de-claw," but our fave solution was one involving a product that hacks together a motion sensor with compressed air. Luckily, YouTube has collected homemade videos of this, seemingly effective, solution in action. A roundup after the jump.

Ssscat, which can be had via Amazon, has a motion sensor built into a compressed air canister that goes off whenever it senses movement. So if you have a couch you want your cats to avoid or a rug you want left alone, this might be a good solution. Just make sure to film your pet's reaction and email them to us.
