Sharon Montrose's Wild Photographs

I used to go to the Bronx zoo just so I could get a closer look at all the wild animals I so admire. The zoo has an amazing layout with open exhibits that make you feel like you can climb into to play with the spider monkeys, panthers, and tapirs — luckily for parents they’re built in a way that you can’t. That, I-could-almost-touch-you feeling, is what drew me to Sharon Montrose‘s photography work.

Sharon takes studio shots of some of the coolest and cutest animals. While they look stuffed — hello, sea otter! — these are all real, live animals. The majority of the animals she photographs are from animal sanctuaries and rescue organizations, while others are privately owns pets. Sharon sells some of her prints on Etsy for an incredibly generous price — 7-by-9 print for $25. Large limited edition prints can be found on Sharon’s site, The Animal Print Shop.

May I suggest buying a print for your main squeeze this Valentine’s day rather than a box of chocolates? Bruce, are you reading this? I really like that cow head!
