Have you ever heard of Oscar the Death Cat? The resident feline of Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, RI appears to know when the Grim Reaper is near. In the first two years of Oscar's stay, he was able to predict who was going to go within a few hours of the patient's actual death. Oscar made his predictions by curling up into the soon-to-be deceased's bed. Oscar has predicted 50 deaths since coming to Steere, and he's yet to be wrong.

Dr. David Dosa, an assistant professor at Brown University and a geriatrician who treats patients at the nursing home, has a new book coming out on Wednesday about Oscar called Making Rounds With Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordinary Cat. Dr. Dosa believes Oscar's gift is actually his ability to detect ketones, a odorous biochemical given off by dying cells. Check out the CBS News video about Oscar after the jump.
