Second Chance Animal Rescue Helps Senior Dogs Get Adopted via KOB.com

I’ve always been a fan of older dogs. Puppies are no-brainer cute, but it’s the older dogs that really shine to me. They have so much personality and wisdom, and you gotta love the gray beards and eyebrows. But I know I’m in the minority when it comes to puppies vs. older dogs, and unfortunately, it’s obvious from the number of senior dogs in animal shelters. Fortunately, groups like Rio Rancho, New Mexico’s Second Chance Animal Rescue are around.

This all-volunteer group is made up of foster homes that take in older dogs from animal shelters who are less likely to get adopted. Second Chance screens potential adopters by having them fill out an application and then by bringing the dog for a home visit. The most compatible home for the particular dog is selected to ensure a good match and so that the dog’s home is a permanent one.
If you’re thinking about getting a dog, consider giving an old(er) one a chance. They need homes and love just as much as puppies do!
