Second Chance Animal Rescue Helps Senior Dogs Get Adopted via KOB.com
I’ve always been a fan of older dogs. Puppies are no-brainer cute, but it’s the older dogs that really shine to me. They have so much personality and wisdom, and you gotta love the gray beards and eyebrows. But I know I’m in the minority when it comes to puppies vs. older dogs, and unfortunately, it’s obvious from the number of senior dogs in animal shelters. Fortunately, groups like Rio Rancho, New Mexico’s Second Chance Animal Rescue are around.
Nature Aquariums

My family had several fish and frog aquariums over the years, but none of them were as cool as the Nature Aquariums that are sold at San Francisco’s Aqua Forest, the first store in the U.S. dedicated to the Nature Aquarium concept. The Nature Aquarium style, pioneered by Takashi Amano, uses real plants that imitate natural landscapes. Sometimes, the aquariums almost look like terrariums, except that the landscapes are submerged underwater and fish are swimming by the miniature mountains and “trees.”
Thundershirt: A Treatment for Dog Anxiety?
THIS JUST IN: I contacted Thundershirt to ask for a loaner to review and Thundershirt founder Phil Blizzard said he’d be happy to send us one! Yay! Unfortunately, the dog I had in mind to test it on is currently on vacation. Stay tuned for a review in the near future when she returns. Or if you have a dog that could use anxiety help, contact us and maybe your dog can test out the shirt.
My childhood dog, Cherie, used to get really freaked out during thunderstorms, so when I heard about Thundershirt, I was really curious about the product. The Thundershirt is said to help dog anxiety problems, including those caused by thunder, fireworks, separation, crating, travel, and more.

How to Keep Your Pup Safe
When my beloved Lulu was still with us, I took her on all my errands. To the farmer’s market, the pharmacy, the video store (pre-Netflix), the laundry mat. It was the perfect opportunity for us to spend time together and for both of us to get some much needed exercise.
Since I couldn’t take her in to many of my stops, I would tie her up outside, run in, take care of my errand and come back out to see her patiently waiting. My mom was always worried that someone would snatch sweet Lulu up, but I always hoped she wouldn’t walk away with just anyone.
